2 In Custody In Smyrna Purse Theft

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Both suspects wanted in connection with a purse theft in Smyrna have been taken into custody.


Officials with the Smyrna Police Department said 20-year-old Aaron Moss was arrested Monday in Memphis. The second suspect, 22-year-old Christopher Gonzales, had turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday, July 2.


The incident occurred around noon on Sunday, June 22 at the Shell Gas Station on Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna. The victim ran after the suspects and was dragged several feet behind the vehicle.

Moss, who was allegedly driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, was charged with aggravated assault and theft. Gonzalez was charged with theft. 

After his surrender, police said Gonzalez was cooperative and even returned some of the victim’s property.
