CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A man wanted for allegedly attempting to rob a Clarksville grocery store has been arrested in Florida.

Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said 40-year-old Michael Stinson was arrested Sunday in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Police said Stinson tried to rob the Aldi on Fort Campbell Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 30.

Officers were called the store for a robbery in progress, but the alleged gunman fled on foot before officers arrived. He did not get away with any money or items.

Surveillance from a nearby business showed the gunman approximately 30 minutes before he entered the Aldi. Officers said that helped lead to Stinson's identification.

Information about extradition was not immediately available.
