Suspect Wanted For Pawning Stolen Engagement Ring

Posted: Updated:

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Police have asked the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted for pawning a stolen engagement ring.

Officials with the Smyrna Police Department said the theft victim sold the ring to the suspect, later identified as Matthew Walker. The seller met up with Walker, who allegedly gave her a fake name, in a parking lot to exchange money for the ring.

The victim told police he gave her an envelope that was supposed to have $2,000 in it. She gave him the ring and he sped away from the scene.

The seller claimed the envelope was empty. The ring was pawned just hours later in Nashville for $500.

Walker was identified by the alleged victim through surveillance video. Anyone with information has been asked to call Smyrna Police.
