Clarksville Couple Gives Woman New Wheelchair

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Tenn. – A woman, whose wheelchair was stolen from a Madison Walmart, has been given a new, electric wheelchair from couple in Montgomery County.

Mariea Cellon was shopping for a watermelon at a Walmart in Madison when she said someone stole her wheelchair.

She reportedly left it at the front near the greeter in exchange for a motorized wheelchair, and when she came back it was gone. Fortunately, a clerk was kind enough to clock out, take her to the car with her groceries and even help carry her into her home.

"Well, I hope he really needed it badly because he kind of spoiled my Fourth of July, but I'm not going to let it dampen my spirits. I've got a pretty day and my watermelon,” she said Friday afternoon.

After the story aired on NewsChannel 5, Cellon said Sunday and Billy Huff, of Clarksville, came by her house and gave her a new electronic wheelchair.

Cellon said she's thankful to the caring people of Tennessee and said she's excited to use her new chair at church on Sunday.
