School Board Approves Plan For New Antioch Elementary School

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education approved a new rezoning plan they hope will alleviate overcrowding in the Antioch area.

The plan unanimously approved Tuesday night clears the way for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools to build the now-unnamed elementary school on Smith Springs Road.

The school has been designed with a capacity of 800 students in hopes of alleviating overcrowding at nearby Thomas Edison Elementary School and Lakeview Elementary Design Center.

The board also approved bus transportation for any students who need it.

A groundbreaking for the school will be held on July 23. It is slated to open in time for the 2015-2016 school year.
