Middle Tennessee Hosts Girls Basketball Tournament

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nearly 500 of the best teams in girls high school basketball have arrived in Nashville for one of the largest tournaments in the country.

The “Battle in the 'Boro” began a decade ago with just a few teams but has since grown into one of the biggest basketball tournaments in the nation.

The event has become so large, it's no longer held in Murfreesboro. The tournament was forced to relocate to Williamson and Davidson Counties, where there are more hotels and venues for the 50 basketball courts needed for the event.

The largest location being used for the games is the Music City Center, where 30 courts have been set up side by side. Nearby restaurants and tourist attractions hope to provide entertainment for players and their families after the games.

"I think it's a great experience for everybody to try to get seen by all the coaches around, so I think it's a great experience for everybody,” said Sabre Clegg.

The tournament was scheduled to wrap up Sunday, with the finals being played at A-Game Sports in Franklin.
