Three people linked to state Sen. Jerry Cooper will go to trial on federal bank fraud charges -- and prosecutors are hinting that others could also eventually be indicted.
Cooper, D-Smartt, was named a co-conspirator in the case, although he wasn't indicted.
It all involves a deal -- first exposed by a NewsChannel 5 investigation -- involving a piece of land that Cooper owned.
In a prosecution memo, the government says:
"The investigation of the crimes alleged in this case is continuing. We expect to bring charges against other criminal participants in these crimes."
The first trial is scheduled for April, although one of the defendants is asking for a delay.
