Brent Frazier - Reporter

Updated:

Nearly 12 years anchoring and reporting in Nashville have made Emmy award-winning journalist Brent Frazier a familiar face to middle Tennessee viewers. Brent came to Music City in 2000, and joined the NewsChannel 5 family in July 2006 as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor.

Nominated for three Emmy Awards, Brent finally took home his first trophy in 2012 for his single-day coverage of what was supposed to be Tennessee's final State Fair.

Known among his peers for his exceptional writing talent and ability to tell a story like few reporters can, Brent is thrilled to be part of a major news market – and a member of an award winning news team - that still values the art of crafting a story.

In 2009, Brent earned his first Emmy nomination for Best Writer with his exclusive, two-part report, "Miracle Child," a story documenting the miraculous recovery of 2-year-old Erik Jackson. Erik toppled into a well of water in May 2008 and was clinically dead when paramedics began life-saving procedures. Brent also broke the story of Pamela Rogers Turner: the high school gym teacher, currently serving a prison sentence, for having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenage male student. The story garnered international attention, though Brent Frazier was the first and only reporter to confront Pamela as special agents placed her in handcuffs in rural Fentress County.

A career in TV news is something Brent dreamed of as a youngster. He used to circulate throughout the neighborhood of his hometown and file field reports with nothing more than a tape recorder. Only his family listened then, though.

Brent is a Hoosier -- born and raised in Clinton, Indiana. He is a graduate of Indiana State University, and landed his first job at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute. Brent has also anchored and reported in Lafayette, IN, and Evansville. Brent worked on the college newspaper and was awarded a talent scholarship, based on his likelihood to succeed in the business.
