FRANKLIN, Tenn. - A Spring Hill man accused of threatening Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones with a knife appeared in court Tuesday morning.
Detectives said Jones bowled with friends Friday at the Franklin Family Entertainment Center when Clayton Smith approached Jones, holding a knife.
Police said Smith was offended by a comment Jones allegedly made to his son.
Holding a knife, Smith allegedly said he would "gut" Jones. Smith is also accused of threatening Jones, saying he deserved a "whooping" for all the things he had done.
Smith did not strike Jones, who was not hurt.
Police arrested Smith Saturday, charging him with aggravated assault.
In court, a judge appointed an attorney for Smith, who waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
A formal arraignment will be held in April.
Smith remains in jail on a $5,000 bond.
