RECIPE # 3970 - STRAWBERRY PRETZEL SALAD - Monday, April 2, 2007


3 c pretzels
1/4 c sugar
1/2 c butter or margarine, melted
1 c sugar
1 (8-oz) pkg cream cheese
1 (8-oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (6-oz) pkg strawberry gelatin
2 c boiling water
1/2 c ice water (with ice cubes)
1 (20-24-oz) pkg frozen strawberries

Place pretzels and sugar in food processor and process until crumbs.  Add butter through top to form crumb crust.  Press into 9 X 13-inch baking dish or pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.  Cool. 

In a large bowl, beat sugar and cream cheese until smooth.  Add whipped topping and beat until completely combined.  Spread over cooled pretzel crust. 

In a separate large bowl combine gelatin and water; mix until dissolved.  Stir in ice water and frozen strawberries.  Cool until mixture begins to thicken.  Gently spread over cheese layer.  Place in refrigerator to set.  Yield:  8-10 servings.
