MTSU Building Name Won't Change

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- A building at Middle Tennessee State University with a controversial name will not be changed.

The military science building is named after Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate General and a founding member of the Ku Klux Klan.

Late last year, students petitioned to change the name of Forrest Hall.

Last month, someone spray painted "Black Power" and "You Are Not to Be" on the walls.

School officials said their research showed students did not think the name was a major issue.
