White House Marks National Day Of Prayer

(AP) WHITE HOUSE - The Virginia Tech massacre was on the minds of many at Wednesday's White House event marking the National Day of Prayer.

President Bush welcomed the mayor of Blacksburg and the chaplain of the school's corps of cadets, who said an opening prayer.

Bush said Americans ask for God's "comfort for the victims of tragedy, and that the injured may be healed."

Shirley Dobson, who chairs the National Day of Prayer, said the Virginia Tech shootings and the continuing threat of terrorism should cause Americans to pray every day
