Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa
Mix these 6 ingredients together with electric mixer. Add in order: 2 cups flour, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 7 minutes. For the filling Mix 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 cup confectionary sugar, 1 cup marshmallow fluff and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Mix until smooth. Once the chocolate shells are cool, remove from cookie sheet and place flat end facing up. Spoon the filling into the center of the pie and place another pie shell on top to make a sandwich. Enjoy your Whoopie pie, a tasty New England treat!
