NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former State Sen. Kathryn Bowers pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to charges stemming from Operation Tennessee Waltz.
Bowers is accused of accepting more than $11,000 in an undercover FBI sting. By taking the money, Bowers agreed to vote for a bill that would help E-Cycle Management, a fake company set up for the sting.
The former senator faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing hearing has been set for October 24, 2007.
With Bowers guilty plea, 10 of those charged in Operation Tennessee Waltz will have been convicted, which leaves only a former Memphis school board official awaiting trial.
