NC5 Investigates: Veterans Home

Gov Reopens Veterans Home Admissions

Three months ago, state health inspectors found nearly a dozen critical violations at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro.

Administrators came up with a plan to fix the problems.

And now Gov. Phil Bredesen has given the OK for the nursing home to once again accept new patients.

The governor ordered the ban on new admissions back in early June after the facility was cited for putting patients' lives in danger.

Bredesen now says he feels the veterans home is taking steps to provide consistent quality care.

But, he adds, the state will continue to closely monitor the home's progress.
