Documents Released In Case Against Bobby McGee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bobby McGee once fought to keep child abuse victims from their abusers. Now the attorney stands accused of being a child predator himself.

Investigators arrested the 62-year-old Perry County man for trying to solicit sex with an 11-year-old girl on the internet.

As NewsChannel 5 reporter Jeff Tang discovered, some of the evidence against McGee is pretty disturbing.

Investigators allege that Bobby McGee was looking for someone to engage in a master-slave bondage relationship with him. An affidavit obtained by NewsChannel 5 describes conversations between McGee and someone he thought was a mother of two young children.

For more than 20 years McGee's Linden, Tennessee law office opened its doors to abuse victims.

An advocate for women and children's rights, McGee is now involved in cases involving the cases of abused children, custody of children.

Now McGee is accused of being the very kind of criminal he once fought to keep children away from.

The U.S. District Court in Tallahassee just unsealed the criminal complaint against McGee. The court also released a series of chat logs between McGee and an undercover agent. In all there are 57 pages of evidence.

In the online chats a man with the screen name "tnmaster_2007" refers to himself as a "horny old redneck" before giving his name - "Bobby McGee... just like the song."

The undercover investigator posed as a 34-year-old mom with two children - a 9-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter.

After McGee wrote about developing a master/slave relationship with the woman, he reportedly turned the conversation towards the children.

tnmasters_2007: "Are your children aware of your involvement and participation in the lifestyle?"

After a reply in the affirmative from the investigator, tnmasters_2007 responded, "I would assume then that they night (sic) even be participants, yes?"

The affidavit then said McGee told the woman that he expected the daughter to perform sex acts on him, and wanted the son to watch.

tnmaster_2007: "I wouldn't be opposed to giving them more training."

After dialogue about the tnmaster_2007's profile picture and his bedroom arrangement, he then focused on the young girl.

tnmaster_2007: "Does she seem to have the apptitude (sic) and the feeling to become a slave?"

In a chat the next day, the suspect began to worry about who he was talking with.

tnmaster_2007: "I am going to ask you straight out... are you a member of law enforcement?"

Even with his doubts, investigators said McGee arranged to meet with the woman and her children, asking them to drive from Florida to Tennessee - where investigators took McGee into custody. The 62-year-old was on his way to Tallahassee to face child sex charges.

McGee's Middle Tennessee law office is now closed.

NewsChannel 5 chose not to report the more graphic and disturbing conversations from the 49-page online chat log.

McGee is no stranger to controversy or the law. Last year, the Tennessee Supreme Court suspended his license to practice law after he admitted to having sex with his clients.
