CROFTON, Ky. - More than a dozen homes were damaged in Christian County, Kentucky and families had to take cover when strong winds moved into the area.
Fallen trees and downed power lines had to be cut for crews to get through into a small community near Highway 800 and Old Palestine Road in Crofton.
Emergency crews took several calls from residents who said they saw a tornado move through the area.
"We could see stuff flying in circles and we came in [the hall] and lay down on the floor," said one resident.
Several people became trapped in their houses.
"We were in the spare bathroom in the closet - me and my husband and our little baby. We just jumped in there and threw towels and whatever we could find over us as the whole house started shaking," said another resident.
Other houses were completely knocked off their foundations.
Many residents said they were thankful that no one was seriously hurt.
The National Weather Service had not yet confirmed if a tornado had touched down in the area.
