Volunteers, Donations Needed For Weekend Cleanup


GALLATIN, Tenn. - The Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing tornado cleanup this weekend.

Donations and volunteers are needed for the effort organized at the request of the Sumner County Emergency Management Agency.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Gallatin City Hall parking lot between 8-10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Two tornadoes hit Castalian Springs Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Volunteers should be prepared to work a minimum of four hours. Teenagers may work with supervising adults.

More than 100 homes were severely damaged and seven people died.

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and protective clothing and bring gloves, rakes, shovels, etc.  These items will also be available on-site, but any extras are appreciated. 

Volunteers should bring bottled water.  Cragfont Baptist Church will provide lunch.
