Man Thrown From Car During Police Chase

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. - An east Tennessee man died in a high speed police chase.

The police chase started when Tennessee Highway Patrols near Morristown began receiving calls from motorists about a vehicle driving recklessly on Interstate 40.

According to THP, that driver hit another automobile after merging onto Interstate 81.

THP said it's still not sure exactly how fast the driver was going but said it was at least 100 miles per hour.

Patrollers also said the driver lost control of the car and flipped it, and the driver was thrown from the vehicle.

No one else was in the car, and the trooper pursuing wasn't involved in the crash.
