Missing child, Sadie
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Two grandmothers, accused of illegally snatching their granddaughter from Tennessee, said they never thought they did anything wrong.
The 3-year-old child was the subject of an Amber Alert late Friday night through Saturday morning.
Police arrested the women when they found them in Ohio with the girl. The grandmothers spent the night in jail.
But it turns out one of the women was granted emergency custody of the child because her mother was receiving drug treatment.
The women took the child to Ohio without realizing authorities were looking for them.
"We never thought about Amber Alerts," said Alida Breuer-Graber, a maternal grandmother. "We never thought we were risking our jobs. The most important thing was to get our granddaughter back here, to get her safe with us."
The women said it was all worth it for Sadie's sake.
