NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Safer neighborhoods is the goal of the Metro Police Department.

If anyone can help them find the people who robbed a convenience store on Murfreesboro Pike, South Nashville would be safer.

Crime Stoppers is assisting police locate the robbers. One of the suspects pretended to be a customer.

The Jan. 5 robbery of a Phillips 66 on Murfreesboro Road was a tag team effort.

A man approached the counter at 4:30 in the afternoon and acted like he was going to buy something.

Another man wearing a mask came into the store with a gun.

"He pulled a mask down and jumped the counter, robbed the store and the first suspect who was in the store acted like a witness, at that point," said Metro detective Mike Chastain.

Surveillance video shows the customer was assisting the gunman before and after the robbery.

"It shows both suspects actually walking together to the store," Chastain said.

Police are looking for the customer who was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed 175 pounds.

The robber pulled the ski mask down over his face while he entered the store, but not before the camera got a good look at his face.

"After the robbery both suspects leave the store at the same time and run through a vacant lot located between the store and the Cantor Chase Apartments," Chastain said.

If anyone can help police solve the robbery at the Phillips 66 at 1915 Murfreesboro Pike call Crime Stoppers.

The number to Crime Stoppers is 74-CRIME.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest and prosecution.
