Deadline Approaching For Tornado Victims To File For Aid

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Officials said Tennesseans with property damage from last month's tornadoes have until April 7 to seek disaster aid with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Tennesseans who live in Benton, Fayette, Hardin, Haywood, Hickman, Houston, Lewis, Macon, Madison, McNairy, Montgomery, Perry, Shelby, Sumner, Tipton, Trousdale, Wayne or Williamson counties are eligible for assistance.

The deadline for loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration is also next Monday.

Macon County, about 50 miles northeast of Nashville, was the hardest hit area of the string of storms on Feb. 5 that killed nearly 60 people nationwide. Thirty-three were killed in Tennessee.
