What is the cultural impact of people who pass as other races? On this edition of Urban Outlook, we take an in-depth look at an uncomfortable subject. Dr. Frank Dobson from Vanderbilt's Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center and Dr. Anastasia Curwood from Vanderbilt talk about the development of different skin tones and how communities and individuals are treated when they are "passing." From Nella Larsen's classic book on the topic to the film Imitation of Life, we talk openly and honestly about a topic that is often taboo.
