Sex Toys, Rape DVD Among Evidence Collected

There are some fascinating new details about the case police may be building against Robert Jason Burdick.

Among those details is exclusive new information uncovered by the NewsChannel 5 Investigates team.

Chief investigative reporter Phil Williams pored over the search warrant, and the evidence outlined in the search warrant appeared to be incriminating.

Police searched his South Nashville home Thursday afternoon shortly after his arrest.

According to the search warrant, they found five guns including a Ruger semi-automatic pistol that police said was tucked in a brown case with 13 condoms.

They also found duct tape, two ski masks, six flashlights as well as night vision binoculars.

They also seized two "anti-dog" remotes that are designed to ward off barking dogs as well as sex toys and DVDs.

One of the DVDs, according to the search warrant, was titled "Rape is a Circle." According to that DVD's back cover, it "explores the cycle of cruelty -- how pain does not end with the victim."

According to the search warrant, police also seized some sort of advertisement for someone who was looking for a female roommate.

What about the DNA that police said links Burdick to the rapes? Where did they get that?

A law enforcement source said that when police were following him this week they watched him eat breakfast at a restaurant. Then, after he left, they grabbed his fork and other items to get his DNA.

But they also used the search warrant to take swabs from his mouth late Thursday so there won't be any question about the legality of that DNA evidence.

The warrant also revealed that police compared Burdick's driver's license photo with a police sketch drawn with the help of one victim. They said it looks like the same man.
