NASHVILLE, Tenn. - You can help make Nashville a safer place to live. Metro police need help solving an armed robbery in Inglewood.

The suspect took money from a Mapco and shot the clerk.

Crime Stoppers will pay you cash if you can help.

On a Sunday morning in November, someone robbed the Mapco at 4134 Gallatin Pike. The clerk was preparing to open the store at 5 a.m.

A masked man entered the store and demanded money.

"The clerk complied, did everything he was supposed to do, gave the man the money and for no reason at all the gunman shot him," said Metro detective Jim Lambert.

The clerk was hit in the chest, but he was able to call 911.

Paramedics rushed him to the hospital in critical condition. After weeks of treatment the clerk survived, but the gunman is still eluding police.

"What sets this robbery apart is that the gunman was wearing a distinct jacket," Lambert said.

It's a multi-colored Mickey Mouse jacket with large pictures of Mickey and Pluto on the back.

The robbery and shooting were caught on tape and Mickey Mouse can be seen on the jacket.

"So, if anyone knows a friend, a cousin, relative anybody who has a jacket just like the one we're going to show, they need to call us," Lambert said.

Police said it's possible the gunman borrowed the jacket, but who ever owns it needs to call them.

"This is a very horrible attack and we want to get this guy off the street before he does it to anybody else," Lambert said.

If you know anything about the robbery and the shooting at the Mapco on Gallatin Road in Inglewood call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for clues in this case. You will remain anonymous and will only be known by the code number police issue you.
