FRANKLIN, Tenn. - In current tough economic times, managing money can be difficult and knowledge can be power for people of all ages.
Hunters Bend Elementary School students learned about the economy and managing businesses through Junior Achievement BizTown, a hands-on learning simulation.
"They learn everything from taking out loans from the bank to balancing the checkbook, philanthropy, working on team building," said Lauren Webb, a teacher.
Every town has a mayor. The students operate a general store and a bank and a radio program.
"It's like real life, a good experience for when we get older and when we really have to do all this kind of stuff," said one participant.
The wellness center, the restaurant and the pet shop paid off their loans.
