Crime Of The Week: June 24, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 19-year-old college student was killed closing an East Nashville service station on Dickerson Road.

Metro police hope someone can help them identify the killers who were caught on tape.

"That's one of the suspects opening the safe right there," said Danny Satterfield, a Metro police detective.

The murder and robbery happened at the Swifty Gas Station on Dickerson Road April 29.

Marcus McGee was working there to help pay for college.

Surveillance video shows two men in dark hoods and masks. One of them is much taller than the other.

It was closing time -- close to 10 p.m.

"He was robbed," Satterfield said, adding that McGee sustained a gunshot wound to the back.

McGee stumbled across the parking lot toward a white Cadillac. He collapsed and later died.

The two suspects got away.

"I'm at a loss for words. It's just sick," said McGee's mother.

She said she worried about her son working at the gas station.

"I prayed a lot," she said. "God had other plans for him."

If anyone knows who killed Marcus McGee call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for clues in this case. Callers will remain anonymous.
