NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Crime Stoppers and Metro Police need the public's help finding an armed robber in East Nashville.
It happened on May 22 at the Dollar General Store on Gallatin Pike and East Trinity Lane. It happened just after 7:30 p.m.
The store manager and a security guard were in the store office preparing to make a deposit.
Police believe the suspect followed another employee to the office, and that's when the robber forced his way into the office.
"He pulled a pistol and held it to the security guard head while committing the robbery. He threatened to shoot the guard, told him not to do anything and money wasn't worth dying over," said Metro detective Jim Lambert.
No one was hurt. The store manager gave the robber the money, and the suspect ran out the door.
The robbery was caught on tape.
"We have some good shots of the suspect who is holding a gun to the security guard's head," Lambert said.
The suspect wore sunglasses to hide his eyes. The neighborhood around the store is busy so police hope someone recalled seeing something related to the crime. The store is located near one of the busiest intersections in East Nashville.
"The store is located at the intersection of Gallatin Road and Trinity Lane, which is very heavily populated and very heavily travelled," Lambert said. "And we feel confident that somebody must have seen something or seen a getaway car."
If anyone has information that can help solve the armed robbery at the Dollar General Store on Gallatin Road call Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for clues in this case. The phone number is 74-CRIME and callers will remain anonymous.
