New Building Opening In Nashville's Gulch

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A new building is opening just outside of downtown in the Gulch area with new condos, restaurants and other shops.

The ICON on 12th Avenue South has 22 stories of condo living. New restaurants will soon open on the street level.

Nashville's first Urban Flats flatbread restaurant will open in December, followed by Laredo Cantina and Casablanca Coffee in 2008.

The Gulch's developer told NewsChannel 5 that his company has carefully researched and chosen what kind of businesses to partner with.

"Retail can be fragile and we want our tenants to all succeed, so we don't want one competing with the other, or one not being complimentary to the other," said Jay Turner with Market Street Enterprises.

Market Street plans to open additional offices, shops, restaurants and clubs. Urban Outfitters is scheduled to open in the Gulch in March.

ICON will have 26,000 square feet of retail space on the street level.
