Businesses, Community Meet To Discuss Hickory Hollow Mall

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Hickory Hollow Mall and surrounding area have been struggling for several years.

A meeting Wednesday night between Metro council members and business owners in the area was planned to find ways to revitalize the Antioch neighborhood.

In past meetings one of the main problems identified was that customers don't feel safe in that area. The businesses has considered joining forces to hire a private security firm to patrol the area.

Metro Councilman Sam Coleman from district 32 said the success of the area requires a commitment from both business owners and community members.

"Most of the people say far and beyond that they don't want to see the mall close. So, I am asking them to do their part by shopping at the mall. Don't let the negative conversation keep them away," said Coleman.

Councilman Coleman said Hickory Hollow Mall management has told the city they are not planning on closing down.
