NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Hundreds of Metro students began class at new schools after choosing to transfer from academically failing schools.
In August, students at the 28 schools dubbed high priority by the No Child Left Behind law were given the option to transfer.
The Metro school board reported that more than 21,000 students were eligible for transfer; although, only a couple of hundred actually took them up on the offer.
Metro officials worked with families on transportation for those students who opted to transfer.
