
(AP) MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Antonio Heffner ran for one touchdown and threw for another, and Tennessee State returned two of three interceptions for touchdowns in a 41-18 rout of Jackson State on Saturday night.
It was Tennessee State's sixth consecutive victory over Jackson State (1-2).
Heffner ran for 48 yards, including a 1-yard sneak with 6:36 left in the first half that put the Tigers (3-0) in front for good at 14-10.
Heffner also hit 11-of-16 passes for 137 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown with 19 seconds left in the second quarter. His pass was tipped by a defender and was grabbed by Brandon Belvin for a touchdown to make it 28-10 at the half.
