Crime Of The Week: Oct. 14, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Crime Stoppers hopes someone can identify two men who burglarized a business in Madison.

The heist was caught on tape.

Metro police responded to an alarm but it was too late.

A call to Crime Stoppers could reward someone with cash.

Surveillance video show a burglary at the Rent-A-Center store at 870 S. Gallatin Road in Madison.

Two men smashed through the front door and grabbed several flat panel plasma televisions.

"Police immediately responded to the alarm, secured the location.  Canine did a search of the building but the suspects were already gone.  It was a smash-and-grab type burglary," said Metro detective Jim Lambert.

They didn't seem to care about the burglary alarm.

The men left the same way they came in through the front door they smashed a few minutes earlier.

"Obviously on a burglary like this they're going to either pawn them to try and get some money out of them or they'll use them themselves," he said.

Police think the suspects are white men in their twenties. One had a receding hairline and dark hair. The other did not wear a shirt and he had a shaved head.

"If somebody is going to offer you a plasma TV for a couple of hundred dollars and you know it's a $1,500 dollar TV. It's going to be stolen property and you don't want to buy it," Lambert said.

If anyone knows the men or has information about the burglary, call Crime Stoppers at 74 Crime. Callers will remain anonymous and could earn up to $1,000 cash.
