Hutcheson, Gilliam Among 11 Inductees To Sports Hall Of Fame

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame has announced the 2009 class featuring 11 people including Philip Hutcheson, Woody Hunt and the late Joe Gilliam Jr.

Hutcheson was a four-time All-American at David Lipscomb University and was basketball's all-time leading scorer. He recently was hired as Lipscomb's athletic director.

Gilliam was known as "Jefferson Street Joe" who led Tennessee State to two black college national titles and won two Super Bowl rings with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The late Tommy Owens is another posthumous inductee.

Hunt went 1,043-431-3 as baseball coach at Cumberland University.

Other inductees include Sarah Ingram, Sam Bartholomew Jr., Stan Huntsman, Chip Kell, Andy Nelson, Tim Priest and Elliott Perry.

The 2009 class will be inducted Feb. 20 in Nashville.
