NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bank of America held its fifth annual Celebration of the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative.
A group of nonprofit organizations, individuals and student leaders were awarded for their dedication to making the Nashville community better. One of the winners was Metro Police Deputy Chief Louise Kelton.
"I remember when the notification came down and I sent it to my lieutenants to nominate somebody that worked for them -- to nominate an officer," she said. "But I never heard heard anything back. Then I got a suprise phone call from Mr. Stein saying that I was the one that had been selected and I said how?"
She received a grant for $5,000, which she chose to donate to the 100 Club. The club benefits families of police, emergency medical technicians and fireman who are injured in the line of duty including fellow officer Danita Marsh.
