GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police are trying to solve an armed robbery in Goodlettsville.
They think the suspect has robbed before and will do it again.
Police are looking for witnesses who got a good look at the gunman.
Police said he robbed the Discount Tobacco store on Rivergate Parkway in Goodlettsville.
He committed the crime on Saturday, Dec. 13. It was just after 6 p.m.
The man went into the store, picked up a drink from a cooler, got some candy and went to the counter.
While the clerk rang up the purchase he pulled out an automatic handgun and threatened to shoot the clerk if she did not give him all the money.
"The clerk was giving him the money without any resistance. A couple of more customers came into the store and the individual grabbed the money off the counter that she'd laid out and left on foot," said detective Harry Bell.
Police believe the unusual design on the back of the suspect's hoodie and the customers who walked in on the crime maybe the keys to solving the crime.
One of the customers followed the suspect out of the building.
"As the witnesses followed the suspect and watched him leave the store, they left before police arrived and we would like to talk to those two witnesses if they see this if they'd just call us we'd like to interview them," Bell said.
Police believe it's not the first time this gunman has robbed a business in Nashville -- making it even more important to get him off the street.
"He was well versed in what he was doing, and he's going to do it again. And if we can take him off the street it could save somebody from possibly getting hurt," he said.
