Community To Remember Nashville Homicide Victims

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Family and friends who have lost loved ones to violent crime can come hang ornaments on memorial wreaths at the First Baptist Church in downtown Nashville.

Nashville is on track for one of its most violent years on record. The worst year was 1997 when the city recorded 112 homicides.

It's nearing dangerously close to that number this year, with more than 100 homicides so far in Nashville – that number includes murders, but also justified and accidental shootings.

On Thursday, there's a chance to remember the victims. Memorial wreaths will be on display all month at the Tennessee State Capitol.

This is the 15th annual Tennessee Season to Remember event. It gets underway at 5:30 p.m.
