The former president of USA Gymnastics was arrested overnight in Gatlinburg.
CBS affiliate WVLT said Steve Penny was taken into custody by U.S. Marshal's in a Gatlinburg cabin.
Penny had been indicted in September for allegedly tampering with evidence in relation to the Larry Nassar scandal.
Prosecutors said he ordered the removal of documents from the Karolyi Ranch in Texas, hindering the investigation into Nassar.
He was booked into the Sevier County Jail and will be sent back to Texas.
