Basketball Coach On Administrative Leave

The Creek Wood High School girls Basketball team had to play without their coach during the semi-finals because of an ongoing investigation.

Head Coach Tom Mullinicks was placed on administrative leave last Friday following a serious call to Director of Schools Dr. Danny Week.

"Last Friday a building administrator notified the central office of a concern that brought the attention that we needed to begin an investigation at Creek Wood High School," said Dr. Danny Weeks, Dickson County Director of Schools.

While officials didn't go into detail as to what the concern was, school officials wasted no time pulling Coach Mullinicks from Friday's game, and notified the sheriff's office.

"I can tell you we've been working on some things this morning but it's just in the preliminary stage, we feel based on our procedures it'd be best not to release any names, especially if they're under age of any potential victims or potential suspects" said  Dickson County Sheriff  Jeff Bledsoe.

Mullinicks has not been charged with a crime.

School officials said he's been the girl's basketball coach for 14 years, and it wasn't easy to pull him off the game last Friday.

"it is unfortunate for the students and the fans and the family and the coach that it happened at that time but it was a decision we  had to make," said Dr. Weeks.

The school's investigation has been completed. School officials have since been waiting for the Sheriff's deputies to finish their own investigation.
