Franklin, Tenn. – Officials with the Williamson County sheriff’s Office have reported a jury duty scam involving prepaid credit cards.

Investigators said the scam involves a man calling homes, claiming to be Lt. Jim Handy from the Sheriff’s Office.

He tells them they have not reported for jury duty and will be arrested unless they buy a prepaid card and load it with money or get a cashier’s check and meet him at the courthouse.

However, investigators reminded residents, that they would never call anyone asking for money for missing jury duty.

Anyone that has received a similar call has been asked to report it to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 615-790-5550.
