2 Children, 2 Adults Rescued After Canoe Overturned

Posted

Several crews in Maury County helped four people who were rescued after their canoe overturned.

Officials with the Maury County Fire Department said responders rushed to the Duck River around 12:30 p.m. Sunday due to a water rescue call.

The canoe flipped with two adults and two children clinging to a tree, according to MFD officials.

While crews were searching for the victims, a boater already on the river rescued them and took them to Carpenter Bridge Road.

The Chapel Hill Fire Department also responded because of the number of patients.

In addition, Henry Horton State Park Ranger, TWRA Wildlife Resource Officers, Maury EMS, and MCSO also responded to the scene.

Officials stressed the importance of wearing a life vest in case your boat capsizes with the river being swollen as a result of Sunday's heavy rain.

The identities of the boater and victims were not immediately released.
