Nashville loves hot chicken and BBQ, but that can leave some diners in the dark. Now there's a new restaurant that has a new take on Southern staples.
"Chicken and waffles, hot chicken and waffles, people really love that also," said Clifton Hancock, owner of The Southern V.
The plant-based restaurant has all the comforts of the South, but these home-style favorites are just a little different.
"I grew up eating steak and potatoes, meat, everything else that my family was accustomed to eating," he said.
Now, Clifton and his wife Tiffany run the restaurant together.
"When we had our first child she had some intolerances, dairy specifically," he said.
They started at the farmer's market. The food was such a hit they were able to open a brick and mortar store.
