NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville police said a suspected robber was shot multiple times by the man was he trying to hold up at an Antioch ATM.
The shooting was reported at about 9:45p.m. Tuesday at the US Bank near Global Mall at the Crossings on Hickory Hollow Parkway.
According to police, a man was at the ATM when he was approached by a gunman. The victim pulled out his own gun and shot the suspect multiple times, police said.
Witnesses at a nearby restaurant, Slim and Husky's, heard the gunshots and called police. They saw the suspected robber running between the restaurant and the bank. Police ultimately found him in a parking lot.
The man who was shot was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.
Officers interviewed the shooter and say the investigation is ongoing.
