Shoplifting Suspects Arrested After Crashing Vehicle
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Two shoplifting suspects were arrested after crashing their vehicle in ant attempt to flee the scene.
Officers with the Hendersonville Police Department were called to a theft report at the Kohl's store on Glenbrook Way just after 4:30 p.m. They spotted the man and woman getting into a maroon Honda and tried to stop them.
The pair fled the scene, and somehow crashed the vehicle.
The woman, identified as 27-year-old Ashley P. Caruthers, was taken into custody as she got out of the wrecked vehicle. The man, identified as 40-year-old Stephen D. Pyles, fled the vehicle on foot but was apprehended a short time later after a foot pursuit.
Stolen merchandise was found inside the vehicle.
Both were charged with two counts of theft and durg charges. Pyles was also charged with two counts of aggravated assault , reckless endangerment, evading arrest, resisting stop, halt, and frisk, driving on a suspended driver's license, and violation of financial responsibility law.
Police also learned that the pair had outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions including Williamson County, Rutherford County, Putnam County, Metro Nashville, and in Georgia.
Both were booked into the Sumner County Jail. Bond was set at $80,000 for Pyles, while Caruthers was set at $15,000.
