Flood watch...updated national weather service huntsville al 949 pm cst sat feb 10 2018 lauderdale-colbert-franklin al-lawrence-limestone-madison-morgan- marshall-jackson-de kalb-cullman-moore-lincoln-franklin tn- including the cities of florence, muscle shoals, sheffield, tuscumbia, russellville, red bay, moulton, town creek, athens, huntsville, decatur, albertville, boaz, guntersville, arab, scottsboro, fort payne, rainsville, cullman, lynchburg, fayetteville, winchester, sewanee, decherd, estill springs, and cowan 949 pm cst sat feb 10 2018 ...flood watch remains in effect through sunday afternoon... the flood watch continues for * portions of alabama and southern middle tennessee, including the following areas, in alabama, colbert, cullman, de kalb, franklin al, jackson, lauderdale, lawrence, limestone, madison, marshall, and morgan. in southern middle tennessee, franklin tn, lincoln, and moore. * through sunday afternoon * persistent moderate to heavy rain will create a risk of flooding this weekend. rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches have already fallen through this evening. continued rainfall will produce another 1 to 2 inches tonight into sunday, before the rain tapers off late sunday afternoon. * localized flash flooding is possible overnight, especially in areas that received the heaviest rainfall earlier today over northwest alabama. area river and stream flooding could develop across much of the tennessee valley this evening into sunday. precautionary/preparedness actions... a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. do not drive over flooded roadways!
