Lawrence ky-dickenson-buchanan-wayne-cabell-lincoln-putnam- kanawha-roane-calhoun-mingo-logan-boone-clay-braxton-gilmer-lewis- mcdowell-wyoming-upshur-barbour-northwest raleigh- southeast raleigh-northwest fayette-southeast fayette- northwest nicholas-southeast nicholas-northwest webster- southeast webster-northwest pocahontas-southeast pocahontas- northwest randolph-southeast randolph- including the cities of louisa, clintwood, grundy, vansant, kenova, ceredo, wayne, huntington, harts, alum creek, hamlin, teays valley, hurricane, charleston, south charleston, saint albans, spencer, grantsville, williamson, logan, chapmanville, man, madison, clay, sutton, gassaway, burnsville, glenville, weston, welch, gary, war, mullens, oceana, pineville, buckhannon, philippi, belington, bradley, prosperity, sophia, beckley, oak hill, fayetteville, montgomery, meadow bridge, summersville, craigsville, birch river, richwood, holly river state, webster springs, cowen, snowshoe, marlinton, elkins, and harman 834 am est sun feb 11 2018 ...flood watch remains in effect until 7 pm est this evening... the flood watch continues for * portions of northeast kentucky, southwest virginia, and west virginia, including the following areas, in northeast kentucky, lawrence ky. in southwest virginia, buchanan and dickenson. in west virginia, barbour, boone, braxton, cabell, calhoun, clay, gilmer, kanawha, lewis, lincoln, logan, mcdowell, mingo, northwest fayette, northwest nicholas, northwest pocahontas, northwest raleigh, northwest randolph, northwest webster, putnam, roane, southeast fayette, southeast nicholas, southeast pocahontas, southeast raleigh, southeast randolph, southeast webster, upshur, wayne, and wyoming. * until 7 pm est this evening * the last in a series of waves of low pressure will move through the area today bringing more heavy rainfall. around an inch of additional rainfall, with locally higher amounts, is likely to keep flooding ongoing today across southern west virginia and southwestern virginia. flooding may develop farther north today, especially in west virginia. * excessive rainfall combined with an already saturated ground will continue, or may lead to, flooding along streams, creeks, rivers, and in low lying areas. in the northern west virginia mountains, snowmelt will also contribute to the potential for flooding. larger streams and smaller rivers are most likely to flood. precautionary/preparedness actions... a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
