Madison Chamber of Commerce along with Jarvis signs presented a check for $5,500 in honor of fallen officer Eric Mumaw.

They raised the money by selling "police support" signs to area residents for $10 each.

The money will be given to Mumaw's family in Ohio to use however they choose.

"These men and women who wear these uniforms, they are our friends, brothers and sisters. These signs allowed us to grieve together and work through this and build strong alliances with men and women in blue who serve and protect our community," said Nathan Massey.

Officer Mumaw drowned earlier this month while trying to save a woman from driving her car into the Cumberland River.

He was an 18-year veteran of the Metro Nashville Police Department.
