A Donelson father said he's lucky his injuries were not any worse after a brick smashed through his vehicle while on the road.

Pat Curran was driving home on McGavock Pike near Dundee Lane in Donelson when he was startled by what was described as an explosion.

"There was glass all over me and in the front seat, and my hand was cut open," recalled Pat. "I pulled off and got out and paced around, and at first I didn't know if I got shot so I was patting my chest and everything."

When he got his composure together, Pat quickly realized that there was a brick on the floorboard. He suspects that someone had thrown the brick at his windshield while he was driving.

"I didn't see anybody on the side of the road but a car passed the same time. The brick went through the windshield, so it had to have some velocity behind it," said Pat.

"I feel sadness and anger towards somebody who would deliberately do that. I just don't understand why," questioned Amanda Curran, his wife.

He was only a quarter of a mile away from his house when the incident occurred.

Pat had to get eight stitches after the brick gashed his hand.

Somehow Pat did not crash the minivan he was driving, but he said he's frustrated knowing his wife and two young daughters could have been the ones in the vehicle.

"The person who threw it had no idea who is in the car, so I don't understand that kind of violence towards somebody you can't even see," said Pat.

The incident happened around 8:30 last Wednesday night.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said around 8:45 p.m. on the same night, a 56-year-old man reported someone threw a brick at his windshield at McGavock Pike and Windemere Circle.

That's less than a mile away from Pat's incident. Officers responded to the scene and found a brick.

The Curran's also said they have received a Facebook message from someone who claimed someone threw a glass bottle at their windshield on the same road and around the same time.
