Grammy Award nominations were announced Tuesday morning on CBS This Morning and Nashville artists from numerous genres including Country Music and Bluegrass were nominated for the awards.
Newcomer Maren Morris was nominated for four Grammy Awards, Keith Urban was nominated for three Grammy Awards, and other artists such as Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Dierks Bentley also got nods from the Recording Academy.
“I’ve grown up watching the Grammys. I watch them every year," Kelsea Ballerini said, after learning she had been nominated for Best New Artist. “Just to be able to be nominated for an all-genre award; There’s two Country artists in it by the way, me and Maren, which makes me so proud to be a Country Music artist, and I’m going start picking out dresses yesterday.”
Another first time Nashville duo Brothers Osborne was also nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song "21 Summer."
But it wasn't all Country Music, the Nashville Symphony was also nominated for three Grammy Awards for their work on "Tales from Hemingway", commissioned by the Nashville Symphony and composed by Michael Daugherty.
“To have these nominations is very meaningful to us because it really is the recognition of our peers that the work the Nashville Symphony is producing is of high-quality," Alan Valentine, president and CEO of the Nashville Symphony said of the nominations thanks to the newly commissioned, composed, and recorded music. “That’s really kind of how we contribute to the brand that is Music City where all kinds of uniquely American music is made, celebrated, created, recorded, and promoted to the world.”
