A huge crowd braved the heat for the 34th annual Main Street Festival in Franklin.

There was live music, kids activities, an arts and crafts show, and more than 25 different food vendors all throughout downtown on Saturday.

Proceeds from the event were set to benefit the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County, which has helped preserve historic areas.

Organizers said the family friendly event has been a great way to encourage people to visit downtown Franklin.

“Events like this bring guests from all over,” said Bari Beasley, incoming CEO of the Heritage Foundation. “It's a very special time to show off the beautiful city of Franklin.”

The event has been scheduled to continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Around 120,000 people have been expected throughout the course of the weekend.

UPDATE: At 2 p.m. Sunday, festival representatives announced they were shutting down immediately due to the threat of severe weather.
